What career do you choose?

It is not easy to decide what profession to choose. Usually, pupils' plan for the future change many times during the school years. There are so many people who influence you in choosing your occupation. Parents and friends play a very important role in your choice. Many people continue careers of their parents or grand parents. Teachers' influence on pupils' mind also great.

Generally it's not easy for a school-leaver to decide on his future career. There are some frivolous people who enter an institute thinking whether they like the profession they had chosen or not. But occupation you want to devote your life to has to bring you satisfaction. So it should be something you can do and you really want to do.

Career choice is one of the most important decisions you'll ever have to make. Your skills, interests, personality, and values play an important role in your career choice. After you choose an occupation, you will have to map out a plan that will get you there. Gathering career information is an important part of the career planning process. This information includes employment outlook, salary, related occupations, education and training, and job duties. Even if you do work with a counselor, you will need to do some of the work yourself. You must set goals yourself, and your counselor just help you clarify your goals and help you find strategies to reach them. Short-term goals are goals you can reach in one year or less. Long-term goals are ones that are attainable in one to five years. You may choose to work with a professional, or work through the process on your own. In any case the amount of thought and energy you put into choosing a career is more important.
